Introduction to LDL cholesterol

One is called HDL or high density lipoprotein and the other meaning of low-density lipoproteins LDL. These two lipoproteins are responsible for the transport of cholesterol in the body.

LDL is often referred to as the bad cholesterol. HDL is called good cholesterol carries the various parts of the body to the liver and then converts the cholesterol in the bile fluid excess cholesterol. LDL by contrast is called bad cholesterol because it carries cholesterol to other tissues of the body. Whereas it is essential that LDL transport the various parts of the body, a level of excess of LDL cholesterol can generate problems listed below.

When deposits of LDL cholesterol in other parts of the body, it can also drop cholesterol in arteries. Arteries are blood vessels that are responsible for transporting blood away from the heart. High levels of LDL in the body can cause arteries harden and clog, thus disrupting the functions of the heart and increase the chances of heart problems such as heart attacks.

It is important to monitor their cholesterol levels on a regular basis. Ideally, one should have healthy ranges when it comes to both good cholesterol and bad cholesterol. If a healthy range varies from one person to another according to their characteristics, it is generally accepted that LDL levels above 100 mg/DL are unhealthy or less than optimal.

There are many reasons that could account for a high level of LDL in the body. One of them is gene which will cause unfortunately someone with high levels of LDL regardless of their healthy lifestyles. For most people, high levels of LDL are often the result of a poor diet or a way of life which is very sedentary in nature.

Trans fat foods can easily lead to LDL levels in the body. Rich food are also not recommended saturated fat if you want to maintain your normal LDL levels. For patients who have already suffered a heart attack, it is essential that they monitor their cholesterol levels on a regular basis and strive to be very careful about their diet and lifestyle.

LDL cholesterol is no joke. Do the test so that you know your level and can take all the medical measures that are necessary.
